A Meme!

T over at Praying on the Prairie tagged me for a meme! Here it is:

Pick up the nearest book of 123 pages or more. (No cheating!) Find Page 123. Find the first 5 sentences.Post the next 3 sentences.Tag 5 people.

Since all of my books are kinda laying willy nilly all over my floor, I really had a bunch near me. However, the CLOSEST book is the Evangelical Lutheran Worship: Leader's Desk Edition.

Here are the sentences:
Greetings, O favored one! The Lord is with you. The Holy Spirit will come upon you.

I tag Jacki, LutheranMom, Inheritor of Heaven, RuthRe, and Prepare Ye!

Friday Five

I'm not "technically" a member of the RevGalBlogPals, but I still like the Friday Five. I rarely do them, but this one looked especially interesting, especially during difficult times, both personally and communally, where we can draw strength that God's claim on us through Jesus Christ is stronger than death.

When and where were you baptized? Do you remember it? Know any interesting tidbits?
I was baptized on October 26, 1997 at my home church, that I'd been attending since Lent 1996. I remember it because I was almost fifteen years old by then. I had wanted to be baptized for a very long time, but since we "only" went to the Christian church across the street from my house, and because my mom, despite her non-attendance, still held to her Lutheran roots, I was not baptized as a baby. It was a "private" baptism. My family and sponsors were there and that was it. It's kinda cool being one of two people here at Seminary who remember their baptism.

What's the most unexpected thing you've ever witnessed at a baptism?
I haven't really ever seen anything very unexpected at a baptism. Although, at Sunscreen's baptism, I got to hold him while Pastor seashelled water onto his head. He started to cry a little bit, but he quit before he started. It's not too unexpected; I think it's just an interesting thing to remember.

Does your congregation have any special traditions surrounding baptisms? Well, sometimes, Pastor invites the children of the congregation up, which I think is neat. But, something I think that's cool is that one of the residents of the nursing home in ChurchTown makes a "baptismal blanket" for every baby being baptized in town. Then, after the baptism, that baby receives the blanket as a kind of reminder that we are wrapped always in God's love. I also think it's a wonderful way for this woman to use a gift she has for the church.

Are you a godparent or baptismal sponsor? Have a story to tell?
My younger sister and I are both the baptism sponsors for Howard and Sunscreen. I was SO FLOORED when they asked me. I'm very excited, because I've already begun a little bit of telling them about God and what God has done in Christ Jesus. You might be amazed that SO MANY children's books have "ins" for you to use in sharing Christ's love.

Do you have a favorite baptismal song or hymn?I really like the song, "Lift High the Cross." Don't think me morbid, but it's also one of the hymns I would like sung at my funeral. The point is, "it's not about us."

Lift High the Cross:
Refrain:
Lift high the cross,
the love of Christ proclaim
till all the world adore
his sacred name.

Come, Christians, follow where our captain trod,
our king victorious, Christ the Son of God.

All newborn servants of the Crucified
bear on their brows the seal of him who died.

O Lord, once lifted on the glorious tree,
as thou hast promised, draw us all to thee.

So shall our song of triumph ever be:
praise to the Crucified for victory!

"Lift High the Cross," ELW hymn #660. Evangelical Lutheran Church in America; Augsburg Fortress Publishers, October 2006.

High Ropes and Interview!

Ok, so I just got back from the high ropes course a couple of minutes ago. It was SO cool! I was scared like you wouldn't believe for the first one, but then I realized that the belayers had control of it, so all was good. I think I did pretty decently on this stuff. It was awesome! And the zip line was super cool, too! Huge shout out to all the belayers and to the lead facilitator! Ha.

Anyway, T over at Praying on the Prairie interviewed me. the rules:
1. If you are interested in being interviewed, leave me a comment saying “Interview me.”2. I will respond by posting five questions for you. I get to pick the questions.3. You will update your blog with a post containing your answers to the questions.4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

So, if you want me to interview you, comment away!

T's questions to me and my answers:

1. If you could spend a day with any celebrity, who would you spend it with and why? I would have to say Zach Braff (J.D. Dorian from Scrubs) just because he seems like a LOT of fun. Plus, I love the show. But really, I am not that big into celebrities. What matters to me is if you're fun and open to new experiences.

2. What is your favorite children's book of all time? This is EASY! Morris Goes to School. It's about a Moose who can't read, so he goes to school so he can go to the candy store and read and count the money he has so he can buy the proper amount of candy. It was the FIRST book I ever read all by myself.

3. What is your favorite bedtime snack? Sunflower Seeds, hands down. I love them. They're salty and delicious!

4. If you won some money and could only give it to a small town of 500 or less, what would you tell them to use the money for? I'd say probably get some activities for the kids so they could stay out of trouble and not think they could be all city/urban and make their own trouble. Kids need constructive things to do.

5. Since you are attending seminary, what has been your fave event of prologue week? I'd have to say that this is a toss-up. I really liked doing the "walkabout" activity where we went in groups/pairs/threes and went to our areas and tried to talk to people about ordinary things to see the "religious" in their lives. I also enjoyed doing the interview with another classmate. We had to pick a partner we didn't know very well and ask some questions about their theology. It was a really great getting to know you exercise, and it also let me practice my listening/questioning skills. I had a good time.

Ok, so if you want me to interview you, bring it on!

5 Things I Dig About Jesus

Mark tagged me, and I am usually a good sport, so here goes...

Here are the rules:

Those tagged will share 5 Things They Dig About Jesus.
Those tagged will tag 5 people.
Those tagged will leave a link to their meme in the comments section of this post so everyone can keep track of what's being posted.

Five Things I Dig About Jesus

1. Jesus did things that were different, and that turned heads.

2. Jesus is relateable because He didn't hold Himself up to be this hugely lofty guy. Nope, Jesus was a worker, a friend, and a teacher, and I believe Jesus tried to do this in a way that He knew we could emulate.

3. Jesus didn't (doesn't) run when situations get hairy. Jesus sticks around for the whole show.

4. Jesus addressed issues of His own time, but that still are important today. My favorite quote of Jesus' is found in Matthew 6:34. It talks about worry.

5. Jesus loves me even when I don't. :) That's pretty cool.

I tag Jacki, Jae, Faith Love and Bandaids, Inheritor of Heaven, and I think everyone else I know has been tagged already! If not, consider yerself tagged.

Racking my brain...

Wee. Mark tagged me for a meme, and because I'm disgusting from some exercise I just did, I figured I'd stink it up here in the dining room and do it! Here is the 8 random facts theme!

1. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
2. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
3.At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
4. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

My Random 8 Facts!

1. I was the "short kid" in school until I was probably 17 years old. I was SO short that I had to sit on two Christmas Edition JC Penney catalogs when I was learning how to drive. Thankfully, I was down to one when I got my license, and soon thereafter, graduated to none! Thanks to the wonder of modern medicine, I grew 16 inches in 4 years.

2. At one point in my life, I wanted to become a doctor. To be specific, I wanted to be an endocrinologist (one who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of glandular disorders). However, my contempt for math and science led me away from that field.

3. When I was in junior high school, and even a little into high school, friends used to come to me for medical advice because of the previous fact. I correctly "diagnosed" a few medical maladies. I think I could do this because when I was sick from school, I oftentimes would read the medical encyclopedias we had in the foyer of our house. I was a complete dork. (and still am).

4. I hate being told what to do when I'm not asking for advice. I can get somewhat spiteful, which is one of my major flaws, when I believe people are stepping on me. I'm trying to stop this behavior because most of the time, people are just looking out for me.

5. I like working with my hands and getting dirty and sweaty. It's gross, I know, but something is contented within me when I have fixed something, or made something look nice. I will even take risks if I think I have a way out if my plan doesn't work. One example is my plumbing project when I installed the new kitchen faucet at my house a few years ago. I was thrilled when it worked. I also like weedwacking abandoned yards and I find it quite therapeutic.

6. I have never been on a plane to go somewhere (except in the air in order to jump out). When I tell people that I jumped out of the first airplane I was ever in, most people balk some. I laugh. But, one of these days, I'll take a trip requiring a flight.

7. I have an extremely bizarre laugh that makes other people start laughing with me. To go along with this laugh is a bizarre sense of humor. I laugh at weird stuff all the time, and I don't care. Even when I was a kid, I used to have "laugh attacks" and my "special" (I was smart) class had to take time out so I could compose myself. It's cool though.

8. The person I am today is not a thing like I was 6 years ago, and that's totally okay by me. I am glad for the change, even the trying times that have shaped me. Growth and change is a remarkable thing, especially when we can see it in our own lives.

So,I am going to tag Deb, Inheritor, Faith Love & Bandaids, and I need to get more blogging friends! Haha. If you read this and feel inclined to play along, just let me know, and I'll totally be all about reading your post.

Six weird things about me...

Hmm, just for fun, I thought I'd consider myself tagged by RuthRe. I don't know if these are truly weird things, but whatever...

1. I wore the same hooded, black, zip-up sweatshirt almost EVERY SINGLE DAY of my undergraduate career. It was my security blanket, really. I still have it and wear it quite frequently, although not everyday. BTW, I DID wash it regularly.

2. I find immense joy in learning new words, and really, in the English language, on the whole. I regularly throw out new words while I am engaged in persiflage, and find it quite amusing. (Although, I try to do it in situations where the humor will be seen by those with whom I am conversing, so they don't feel dumb. I mean really... I don't think many people are dumb at all. I just like using big words.) One of my favorite sentences in the whole world is: Never use a big word when a diminutive one will suffice. The other favorite sentence? The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. Why, you may ask? Because it contains every letter in the Engligh alphabet.

3. I was about a foot shorter than the "regular" kids in my class in grade/middle school. I was the short kid who got made fun of by the older kids, and was defended fiercely by most of the kids in my own class. Now, I'm the happiest person you'll ever meet to be perfectly average. Modern medicine is wonderful.

4. I was semi-famous for a couple of years because I was the "Now You Know Girl" in my high school media class. Those of us who took media had to put on a newscast to be broadcast on Fridays throughout the school. Weird facts were my thing back then. So, I bought these prop nerd glasses and came up with humorous places to stand while my camerawoman would tape me. She'd turn on the camera and I'd say, "This week's bizarre fact: Did You Know that.... Blah blah blah... NOW YOU KNOW!" And while saying "Now you know," I would contort my face. People were coming up to me on the streets and at Restaurant for YEARS after I graduated. They would say, "Aren't you the 'Now You Know Girl?" And I would say, "Yes, yes I am." And they would ask me to do one for them. Hehe. I miss those days...

5. My oldest brother is twenty-two years older than I am, and I didn't meet him until I was five. I still remember the day because he brought his fiancee home and they brought donuts. If they'd not brought donuts... I probably wouldn't remember the day.

6. I won my school's spelling bee three times, and thus went forth to the county spelling bee. I always got out fairly soon, but it was because I was nervous. One time I was a little bit mad though, because this guy started over and changed his spelling (which you are NOT allowed to do), and he spelled it right the second time. But, when it was my turn, I did the exact same thing and got dinged out. But, hey.. What can ya do? It's not like I'm going to turn into Steve Buschemi's character on Billy Madison or anything. :) Hehe. So, these things aren't THAT weird, but I don't care. See ya.

I couldn't wait.

So, for CPE, each of us had to do this Enneagram thing. The spiritual care manager (not Supa) was going to score each of our tests and discuss them with us this past Thursday. That didn't happen, but it will later. Because I'm a huge dork and LOVE those kinds of tests, I decided I wanted to see if the all-knowing Internet would classify me the same as my CPE Enneagram. So, here are the results of my Internet Enneagram word test:

Enneagram Test Results
Type 1 Perfectionism |||||||||||||| 58%
Type 2 Helpfulness |||||||||||||||| 62%
Type 3 Image Focus |||||||||||| 42%
Type 4 Hypersensitivity |||||||||||| 42%
Type 5 Detachment |||||||||| 38%

Type 7 Adventurousness |||||||||||||| 54%
Type 8 Aggressiveness |||||| 30%
Type 9 Calmness |||||||||||||||| 62%

And here is supposedly what this says about me:

type score type behavior motivation
2 15 I must be helpful and caring to be happy.
9 15 I must be peaceful and easy to get along with to be happy.
1 14 I must be perfect and good to be happy.
7 13 I must be high and entertained to be happy.
6 12 I must be secure and safe to be happy.
3 10 I must be impressive and attractive to be happy.
4 10 I must avoid painful feelings to be happy.
5 9 I must be knowledgable and independent to be happy.
8 7 I must be strong and in control to be happy.

This is somewhat different from my psychological profile which said that I have found ways to keep myself away from painful feelings. Therefore, I'm slightly puzzled at how low that scored on this test. I also really like to be knowledgable and independent (the psych profile also said I have "strong needs for emotional self-sufficiency and independence." Who knows... Now, I just have to wait a while to see how I scored on the "real" Enneagram test... I'll letcha know.

My 201st post!

I know I'm not a *member* of RevGalBlogPals, but they have this thing called "Friday Five." It is a survey/meme type thing that changes every Friday. I felt like doing this week's. Here goes:

1. "It's my party and I'll [blank] if I want to..."
Favorite way to celebrate your birthday (dinner with family? party with friends? a day in solitude?)

I like hanging out with friends and family. I have ever only had one birthday *party* so to speak and it was a flop, really. But, usually, Sis and BiL make me a special dinner and we all hang out. Although, it never seems to fail that something bad happens to me on my birthday... Starting on my 17th birthday when I was pulled over and given a city citation for speeding...

2. "You say it's your birthday... it's my birthday too, yeah..."
Do you share your birthday with someone famous? (Click here to find out!)

You bet! Martin Luther and I share the same birthday. I didn't know any of the other people, though...

3. "Lordy Lordy look who's forty..."
Milestone birthdays:
a) just like any other birthday--they're just numbers, people.
b) a good opportunity to look back/take stock
c) enjoy the black balloons--I'll be hiding under a pile of coats until the day is over
d) some combination of the above, or something else entirely.

While I would like to say "they're just numbers," honestly, birthdays are ways we can look at our lives and see where we are, how far we've come, and where we plan to go next. But it's weird... When I was younger, I thought 24 was old. Now I still feel like a kid.

4. "Happy birthday, dear... Customer..."
Have you ever been sung to in a restaurant? Fun or cringe-worthy?

To my recollection, I've never been sung to in a restaurant. I'd probably cringe though... No-strike that-I'd probably turn beet red and explode little pieces of Trish all over the walls from embarassment... :)

5. "Take my birthday--please"
Tell me one advantage and one disadvantage about your particular birthday (e.g. birthday in the summer--never had to go to school; birthday near Christmas--the dreaded joint presents). This could also simply be something you like/dislike about your birthday (e.g. I like sharing a birthday with my best friend, etc.).

My birthday is usually the day before Veteran's Day. Therefore, I occasionally had my birthday off from school. The best though, was the fact that I had the day AFTER my 21st birthday off from college due to the holiday. Too bad I didn't get completely and totally inebriated... Ruined opportunity, right there.

Hope you enjoyed. Have a good one.

Duty Calls ;)

Well, RuthRe tagged me, and I can't let her down, so here we go....

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?
Egg Nog! My mom makes THE best egg nog on the face of the earth. Yeah for frothy goodness.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? So long as I'm not the one wrapping them, it's all good...

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?
I'm a big fan of the big colored lights. We have always used them, and probably always will. Although, my sister and her boyfriend have a tree with gold lights and silver, purple, and blue ornaments. It all goes very well together.

4. Do you hang mistletoe?
No. We only ever have family over usually, and who wants to kiss them?

5. When do you put your decorations up?
Well.... I'm bad. I asked Ma to postpone decorating this year because we have too much stuff in the living room anyway. So, I didn't want the house to be ALL that much more crowded for my graduation party today. SO, we need to get crackin' now that it's all over with.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish?
Stuffing, when it's done right.

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child?
You all are going to think I had the worst parents in the world, but it's a fun story... When I was probably about 5 or 6 and my little sister was 4 or 5, we celebrated Christmas at my Grandma's house. Dad gave each of us a teeny weeny little bit of champaign (I'm talking like 2 swallows for a normal person), and I had about 2 sips of it and was totally drunk. So, the best part of the story was that little Sis and I played drunken "Guess Who" (remember that game where you tried to find out which card person the other player had?) on the playroom floor at Granny's. I was very dizzy, but it was fun.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
I believed in Santa for a long time because we always celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve. Mom would take us around in the car to look at Christmas lights while Santa was delivering gifts. Well, we were out in the country and I guess some guy had dressed up as Santa because there he was looking into a window. I could have sworn there were reindeer on the roof, too...

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
Up until recently, we opened all of our gifts on Christmas Eve. Now we do it whenever we can all get together.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree?
Handmade school decorations, big colored lights, glass colored globes.. The usual fare.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it?
Dread! As a commuter for the past 4 years, I really started to despise the stuff, although every time it snows pretty, I think of a poem that I might share at some other point.

12. Can you ice skate?
Never tried.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
Either my Teddy Ruxpin or my Charlie McCarthy Ventriloquist doll that I BEGGED for.

14. What’s the most important thing about the Holidays for you?
Being with my friends and family, going to church, and feeling that wonderful warmth of knowing it's not about us.

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert?
Peanut Clusters or Fudge!

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
Christmas Eve worship (for the past several years) and going to Sis's house for Christmas morning breakfast/brunch.

17. What tops your tree?
A classy little angel. It's cute.

18.Which do you prefer giving or receiving?
Giving, even despite my frugal tendencies. I like to give.

19. What is your favorite Christmas Song?
O Holy Night

20. Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum?
Yuck. No thanks; not even the fruit flavored ones.

I tag Inheritor of Heaven, Jae, and Jacki, if they are so inclined...

A Meme (because I'm bored)

1. Where will you be when it turns 2007? Probably at Sis and BiL's house. Maybe not. Who knows? I'm just glad I don't have to be at Restaurant!

2. How did you get the idea for your Livejournal name? trishyblogblog or what is going on here? Either way, it was just randomness that came bubbling out of my brain.

3. What song are you listening to right now? The quiet hum of the furnace.

4. Has the death of a celebrity ever made you cry? Not that I can recall.

5. Do you own an IPOD? No. I have a CD player. That's good enough for me.

6. What's your favorite memory from last weekend? Going on the Bethlehem Walk. Awesome time!

7. What was the first thing you thought this morning? Well, a dream I was having woke me up and it disturbed me, so I thought, "I need to get to the end of this dream." So, I went back to sleep. Too bad I didn't finish that dream though.

8. What would be your ideal job? A vocation where I can help people, but not have people assume I'm stupid (Which is so often the case when a person works in a restaurant).

9. What will you do tonight? Go to bed. But really, if you say "saturday" tonight, I will be going for my last 2 paychecks, delivering some stuff to Pastor and his wife, and hanging out with Sis and BiL.

11. What are the last two digits of your phone number? 37 or 32. One's to my home phone, one is to my cell.

12. What was the last thing you ate? A Fruit 'N Yogurt parfait. The fruit was still frozen.

13. What was last thing you drank? water. They don't call me the water nazi for nothin..

14. What was the last movie you watched? Freeway. It's funny, but there's a lot of F-bombing in it.

15. What/Who do you dislike at the moment? Hmm. The cold I think I'm getting.

16. What food do you crave right now? Nothin. The ol' F&Y parfait hit the spot.

17. What did you dream last night? I had several dreams last night. One was about my work, one was about my church, and one, I have no idea.

18. What was the last TV show you watched? I watched a little bit of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer before hitting up P-town to do a little late night shopping.

19. What is your favorite piece of jewelery? I don't wear jewelry. But, when I was baptized when I was 14, my sponsors (Godparents, if you will) got me a really pretty cross necklace. It isn't ostentatious or anything. Simple, just like me.

20. Name someone on top of your Friends who is just like poo. I don't really get this question.

21. You're playing blackjack. You're dealt a jack and a seven. Hit or stay? stay, most likely.

22. Who last text messaged you? I think Britnae. A "Happy Birthday" message.

23. Are you on any medication? Yep. It's GLANDULAR! (that's off some t.v. show I saw one time).

24. What side of the bed do you sleep on? I usually sleep dead center in my own bed. When I sleep at Sis and BiL's house, I sleep on the right side (if you're lying in it facing down).

25. What color shirt are you wearing? I'm wearing my green skydiving shirt and my red sweatshirt. It doesn't match, but at least I'm warm.

26. What is your favorite frozen treat? Moose Tracks ice cream.

27. How many piercings do you have? zero. My ears reject jewelry, despite my efforts to keep the site clean and uninfected.

28. What's your favorite store? I don't really have one. I try to avoid shopping.

29. Are you thirsty right now? Yes, I am.

30. Who's someone you haven't seen in a while and miss? Hmm... Dan, my jr. college friends who went different ways than I did, and my university chums who graduated already.

31. What did you do last night? Hung out, watched some T.V.; nothing really exciting.

32. Do you care what people think about you? Depends if I know you or not.

33. Have you ever done something to instigate trouble? When I was younger. Usually, I try to be a peacemaker, though.

35. What are your font colors on AIM. I don't have AIM.

36. Where do you live? In the same house I've lived for the past 24 years of my life. I'm about to move (probably sooner than I initially thought) and It's freaking me out (just a little).

37. Are you aggressive? Usually not, unless someone threatens those I love. Then I can be.

38. Mobile Phone Network? Verizon.

39. What are you listening to now? The furnace just kicked off, so now all I hear are the keys clicking and the computer humming.

40. What is the thing that you would most like to change about yourself? Some self-esteem issues, probably.

42. What do you smell like right now? Probably nothing. We did have corned beef and cabbage tonight, so I might smell like that.

43. What's your favorite color? neon orange

44. Do you like mustard? Yep, in moderation.

45. What do you tell yourself when times get hard? Dude, what's up with this? (Yes, I often refer to most people, including myself, as "dude." Colloquialism is our friend, remember?)

46. Would you ever sky-dive? Yes, and I have. I blogged about it here.

47. Do you sleep on your side, tummy or back? Usually my tummy. Always have, probably always will.

48. Have you ever bid for something on eBay? Nope, although my brother makes and sells these really neat wine holders on there.

49. What do you think of Cary Grant? My grandma used to be a big fan. But I have no idea who he was, except that he was a movie star.

50. Do you enjoy giving hugs? Hmm. Sometimes, if I know the person well.

51. Would you consider yourself to be fashionable? HAHAHAHA! No way! I'm the girl who hates shopping because I have to take someone with me to ask, "Does this match?" hehe. A quick story... I was at Mal-Wart several months ago because I needed to buy some dress socks. I didn't know if the socks were supposed to match the shoes or the pants. So, I asked an associate. She didn't know either, so we asked another, who told me "It's supposed to all look like one continuous thing." It didn't really help me, but I laugh about it.

52. Do you own a digital camera? No. I'm way too cheap.

53. What celebrities have you been compared to? None.

54. Who is your favorite Star Wars character? I've never really seen Star Wars.

55. Does it annoy you when someone says they'll call but don't? Yup.

56. What are you allergic to? Nothing.

57. Are you a jealous person? Occasionally.

58. Do you ever feel guilty after eating meat? Nope.

59. If you were born the opposite sex, what would your name be? Tyroneus E. Jackson III

60. What are you listening to now? the furnace.

Something cool.

As promised, here is the something cool. It is a 3-D picture:

You can click on this to go to the site to make your own! It's really cool! The only bad thing is that it displaced my profile to the bottom of the page. Ah well. Such is the price we pay for art!

Books!

One book that changed your life: The Bible. I wish I read more inspirational type books, but, I'm a slacker.

One book that you’ve read more than once: Left Behind, the first one. Not for the theology, but just because I find it very interesting.

One book you’d want on a desert island: Aside from the Bible.... Hmm. "101 ways to get off a desert island" haha!

One book that made you laugh: I know I have laughed while reading books because people usually look at me like I'm a psycho.. But, I'm drawing a blank right now.

One book that made you cry: When I was a kid, I really liked Lurlene McDaniel books. She wrote fictional accounts about kids who were diagnosed with cancer. Just about any of her books did it for me.

One book that you wish had been written: Hmmm. Well, I used to want to be a published author, but that desire has gone by the wayside. I guess I'd like to see an ELCA seminarian write a book about their experience with the process.

One book that you wish had never been written: Hmm. Well, I don't really wish that because people like to read different things for different reasons. If you really pressed me on it, though, I'd probably say something that promotes satanism.

One book you’re currently reading: "how to think theologically." My pastor said a guy at the seminary suggests it to those considering theological education.

One book you’ve been meaning to read: "Discovering Hope: Building Vitality in Rural Congregations" It's on my list right after "How to Think Theologically" because it deals with what we're doing now with the Natural Church Development process.

Now tag five people: You know, I don't think 5 people read this blog, but if you're going to twist my arm, I'll say RuthRe, Inheritor of Heaven, Jae, and I think that's all I have! Ha. Thanks to Tara over at Praying on the Prairie for inviting me to participate in this!

A little fun...

Hello all. You may be wondering, what kind of fun is happening on a Wednesday night? Wednesdays suck. But no, Wednesdays do not always suck. Why not? Because of this website where you can download for FREE the original Chiquita banana jingle. It's a lot of fun. I never knew a jingle could be so catchy. My little sister (Who's not so little, by the way; she's 22) was singing the song to my baby nephew and we wanted to know the real words because she didn't know all of them. Well, we stumbled upon the website that has sheet music and the original jingle, which coincidentally is WAY better than the '97 version. At the current moment I am printing out the sheet music so I can entertain! Woot! Ya! I'm a dork, but it's a lot of fun. You should try it sometime. :)

And the funny thing is, I don't really care for most of these songs anymore. Oh, and the reason I didn't like the #1 song of the year (Hanging By A Moment) was because it was WAY overplayed. I really liked the rest of that CD; especially the songs "Cling and Clatter" and "Quasimodo." I still play that CD on occasion.

Eat this, Peanuts Test!

Your Inner Child Is Surprised

You see many things through the eyes of a child.
Meaning, you're rarely cynical or jaded.
You cherish all of the details in life.
Easily fascinated, you enjoy experiencing new things.

Yeah, so in another test I took on December 1, 2005, it said I sometimes hide my happiness and am a cynical person. It just seems funny that this test is about the complete opposite. I don't know. :) I think this is closer to me. I'm not much of a cynic at all.

Ha! Hours and hours!

I have just "wasted" the past 3 hours of my life playing some fun winter type games online. I was blogsurfing and found the address for this game where you smack a penguin and see how far you can make it fly! Oh, it is very fun. My high score is 323.5. Thanks to Friday Mom for posting it on her blog for the world to find and be entertained! Anyway, other than this, nothing much is going on. I don't think I'm going to be able to go swimming in the pool at the hotel where my brother, sister-in-law, and nephew are staying this coming weekend. We were all going to go swimming because my little pile of adorable was going to have waterwings so he could show us how he "swims." But, maybe this stuffed nose will miraculously disappear. But then, the only question is: Do I really want to risk the germs of a... dondondon *gasp* public pool?!?! Yes, there are chemicals and other things to keep it clean, but I'm a slight germaphobe. We'll just have to see. I might overlook the germs considering Nephew is way too cute to observe from afar. Oh, something funny (I think it is, anyway). I just about drove myself nuts at work tonight. I work in foodservice as a waitress/hostess/salad woman/slave and tonight was one of my waitressing nights. I thought I would be festive and where my socks with the jingly bell on them. I did. It was NOT a good idea. By 6:00 p.m. I was about ready to rip those little bells clean off. But I decided not to because then people might think I'm not in the Christmas spirit or something. Haha. Nah. So anyway, that's it for now. And remember, don't let Grandma drink too much eggnog because you don't want her staggering out the door into the snow to be run over by reindeer.

A fun test that reminds me of my childhood...

HASH(0x8595414)
You are WILD AND CRAZY KIDS. You couldn't get
through life without a little fun... or a neon
colored t-shirt. You are a team player and
really into Omar Gooding. GO YOU!

Which old school Nickelodeon show are you?
